A proven success

Contrary to initial skepticism, the 4 Day Week Pioneer Pilot in South Africa has defied expectations, emerging as an unexpected success story. The South African pilot is the first pilot to take place in a developing country and the first African country pilot.

The first South African 4 day week trial took place for a period of six months from March to August in 2023. Baseline data was collected by the research team in March and endpoint data in September. The pilot participants were recruited prior to the trial and went through a planning and work-practice reorganization phase, coordinated by 4 Day Week Global, which involved two months of workshops, coaching, mentoring and peer support.

What is the 4 Day Week pilot program?

The pilot is a coordinated, 6-month trial of a 4 day week, with no loss in pay for employees. This program is being coordinated by 4 Day Week Global in partnership with researchers at Boston College, alongside local researchers in each region. You will have unparalleled access to the expertise, tools and resources you will need to run a smooth and successful trial.
